My name is Snježana Schillinger, but most people know me as Snježana Mehun on last name of my second husband with whom I have my son Dino.
I started my career at the most famous radio station in Croatia, Radio 101. After a few years, I opened my own marketing agency. During that period, I worked on media buying and campaigns for my clients. I also held licenses for the beauty contest “Queen of the World,” as well as for Elite Model Look and Elite Model Management.
I organized the Croatian Fashion Oscar like my project together with HRT and worked on other TV projects. During that time, I was also an importer and distributor of cosmetic products.
For several years, I worked with Fashion TV and organized Fashion TV parties in Venice during the Venice Film Festival, as well as in Greece and other locations.
Later, I opened my club, Posh Fantasy Bar, one of the most prominent venues, and worked on this project for six years. Most people know me as a Croatian celebrity.
For the last six years, I have been mostly focused on events and PR in the boat and yacht business, because I own two yachts and I am also a licensed skipper. Interestingly, this is how I met my third husband, Austrian entrepreneur Franz Schillinger, one of the biggest boat dealers in Austria. His partner engaged me for a Lagoon yacht presentation, and that is where we met.
Six years ago, together with Croatian design student Antun Tin Brišar, I created my fashion line Duchess womenswear. I worked on this project with pure love. Nikolina Vidović was also part of our team, she created all the drawings for our T-shirts and was the creative director and stylist for our fashion shows, which we organized twice per year. We also regularly collaborated with Högl Croatia for shoes.
Interestingly, life makes a full circle — now I spend almost half of my time in Austria, Nikolina works at Högl, and I am now creating this interesting collaboration with you.
Why is this shoe your personal favourite?
Scarlet shoes are the perfect combination of business and cocktail shoes. I always feel good, confident, and full of positive energy when I am dressed up for an important business meeting. I need high heels, and these shoes are perfect for that.
They are also ideal for an elegant evening cocktail dress and for business trips. You can pack these shoes, and a woman feels secure and confident in all situations.
How would you style your favourite shoe in three different looks – e.g., for the office, the weekend, and an evening out?
Exactly I like Scarlet shoes for the office, for dinner, and of course for weekends. When we go hiking, I choose sneakers. If I am going to a special event, I also choose trendy shoes that perfectly match my outfit.
What does Högl personally mean to you, and what do you particularly appreciate about the brand?
For me, Högl is, first of all, a high-quality and comfortable brand that follows fashion trends and the best brands that Austria has.
How would you describe your personal style in three words – and why?
My personal style is always inspired by the situation and my energy that day. If I feel like dressing up, even just to go to my showroom, I will do it. I step into that role. Sometimes I feel like I am in a movie, and acting like that makes me happy. I always try to have my hair nicely done, wear makeup, and choose a beautiful Duchess dress, because it is my brand and my passion.
Which woman inspires you personally – in life, caWhich career, or style – and why?
reer, My mother inspires me. She is a professor and graduated from two universities. She was always nicely dressed. She also sewed clothes for me, my sister, and herself.
Is there any advice you would give other women about fashion and self confidence?
You are never overdressed, at worst, you can be underdressed. Dressing up should empower your confidence, not limit it. If your partner comments on your high heels, like: „Why are you wearing those? You can’t walk in them!“ You can respond to him „Schatzi, today we’re going for drinks or lunch, I’ll make sure you bring me to the restaurant in style. Tomorrow, if we go hiking, we can put on sneakers and spend four hours on the mountain!“
