Wien

There are countless reasons to travel to Vienna, whether for a special weekend trip, gourmet experience or a sightseeing tour including a slice of Sachertorte and a ride on the Ferris wheel. Vienna is well known for being “ur leiwand” (Viennese for simply wonderful), and really does have something for everyone.

Want to travel to Vienna? Go for it! HÖGL has three tips up its sleeve that should definitely be on your sightseeing to-do list.

1. Vienna from above. All aboard Vienna’s landmark – the Ferris wheel - and enjoy a nostalgic ride above the rooftops of Vienna. In 2016 this attraction, known as the Vienna Prater, will celebrate its 250th anniversary. You’ll see, it’s kept its good looks, despite its age.

2.  Vienna without Sachertorte would be like Paris without the Eiffel Tower. When you visit our capital make sure you indulge in some of the city’s famous coffeehouse culture on the banks of the Danube. But beware: time tends to stand still when enjoying a Melange (cup of coffee with milk) surrounded by authentic worn interiors and the unique charm of the “grumpy maître d’”. Since 2011 Viennese coffeehouse culture has been inscribed as part of Austria’s intangible cultural heritage by the Austrian UNESCO branch.

3. Walk in the footsteps of the Habsburgs and travel back in time in Schönbrunn Palace. We ask only one favour of you: Please say hello to Empress Sissi from us. :-)
