Inspired from music and fashion
While I was writing this post, I was listening to Sade's legendary songs and as one of my favorite song "Bullet Proof Soul" came on the playlist, made me feel very nostalgic. Music describes emotions that have no words and no way to be communicated other than through music.
Music can heighten senses, enhance emotions and extract memories. Music has a way of putting you in a completely different mindset. The mindset of the composer. The mindset of the performer. The mindset of yourself as you feel at that specific moment. It is only abstract when we attempt to apply it to our physical reality. If we accept that it exists regardless of our meager human perception of it then we can live alongside it instead of attempting to mold it to our purposes. Music is the one transcendent concept in all of human culture and society. Regardless of race, gender, age, height, hair color, accent; there is always music. When we speak, we make music. When our heart beats, we make music. There's a theory, which I find totally convincing, that music is the evolutionary precursor to language, the bridge between the cries and gestures of other primates and our own more abstract communication. But what about fashion?
Fashion is just one part of what defines a culture. Each area of the world has a different style of dress, and it often portrays the customs of values of the religion, culture or country in question. Fashion also contributes to a person's confidence and self-esteem on a daily basis. As a way to express personality and style, fashion plays a role in the lives of most people since it helps them fit in or stand out from the crowd. Fashion also effects people through the media. Media influences choices and feelings towards certain fashion trends, which, in turn, encourages purchasing certain items and specific style. I truly believe that clothes have the ability to change your life. Whether you want it or not, people judge you by the way you look. And most importantly — you judge yourself by the way you look.
Depending on your personality, you will feel more comfortable wearing different types of clothes — you might like classic, sporty, vintage, trendy or extreme looks. Most people base their style around their body shape, friends, celebrity icons, hobbies and a great deal of experimenting. It's true that our social environment hugely influences our style.
People are social beings and constantly need affirmation. When in search for our style, we would directly ask our friends or stylists whether something suits us or not. After we have found our own fashion identity, we will simply look for indirect signs of approval like an admiring look from a stranger or a compliment from a good friend. Every time I receive a positive feedback on my looks, I make a mental tick for that outfit and try to wear clothes in that style range more often.Independent from my personal style, I am always careful to be dressed right for the occasion. So this outfit describes my everyday chic casual look. The main focus goes to my flat over-knees.
