A life en vogue
Fashion means nothing without accessories
Fashion is Katya Bolshova’s life. She runs her own label, and her passion is clearly visible.
My name is Katya Bolshova; I live and work in Riga as a fashion designer, stylist, blogger and photo model. Fashion is my life. Everything I create is from the heart.
Once when I was a child, my mum took me to a fashion show. It was the first time I came into contact with haute couture. My mum saw the sparkle in my eyes and said, “If this is what makes you happy, why don’t you become a model?” I replied, “No, I want to be the one who creates the clothes.” My childhood fantasy has turned out to be reality. Today, I am still the same person, but my heart is entwined with the fashion world on a daily basis.
Searching for ideas, fabrics and accessories for my collections is an integral part of my work. So there are two things that are essential in my handbag: my notebook and a pencil. I use them to sketch new ideas and draw the images that come to me. All the designs I create for my customers are clothes I would be happy to wear myself. I try to offer pieces that are both high quality and beautifully designed. I’ve been working in the fashion industry for 10 years now, and I’ve never lost my own feminine signature style. I love seeing how happy my feminine looks make my fabulous clients, and how they inspire them to go on to new fashion adventures.
This spring, airy, diaphanous fabrics dominate my collection. During this most beautiful time of the year, inspiration is never far away. Nobody can wait to take off their warm winter clothes and put on something soft and romantic instead. Who can resist?
Social media is a big part of my work. I take pictures of each design, to share ideas and inspiration with my clients and followers. This is not just for advertising: first and foremost, I want my followers to have faith in my fashion sense, and I want to show them how to combine my creations easily, so that anyone can style my outfits.

For many years, I would only choose high heels to complete my outfits, but this year I realised that more comfortable looks are up and coming. A good fit and soft materials are important, both for people who love being active as well as people who prefer to be seen in a café. My daily challenge is how to combine romance and femininity with sportiness and everyday life. I am very pleased that fashion has had a revolution, and it’s now fine to wear trainers
with elegant dresses. So many women are grateful to be freed from their high heels.
With my delicate lilac dresses, I was looking for a very stylish, clean, plain accessory with no unnecessary details. To my delight, I found them in the Högl store. I couldn’t resist choosing a pair of shimmering white sneakers, with a fold-down back.
This is this season’s latest trend, and the soft material in the heel area makes them so comfortable. As I am really picky about finding the right shoes for my designs, it was a great joy to find something fashionable that was also high quality. For me, this unique Högl design is a combination of comfort, quality and pure elegance, which is very important for today’s women. I share Christian Dior’s view, who once said: “You can never take too much care over the choice of your shoes. Too many women think that they are unimportant, but the real proof of an elegant woman is what is on her feet”. This expresses exactly how I feel about shoes, and Högl made the choice easy for me.
