A classic for relaxing days out
Loafers are perfect for a leisurely stroll around town or for a cool party, says Nina Wro from ‘you rock my life’.
There are some shoes that stand the test of time and defy the vagaries of fashion, and loaf-ers are definitely one of them. They’re a style classic and a wardrobe staple. And they’re very popular with both women and men.
“The reason loafers are so popular is obvious: they’re not only super-stylish, but comfortable too! What more could you want?”
Loafers, also known as slip-ons, tend to be casual shoes. They were originally worn by royalty and the aristocracy during the summer months. Today, loafers are true all-rounders that can be worn with all sorts of different outfits, on all sorts of different occasions.
These black leather loafers from Högl are beautifully casual and understated. And that means you can get away with adding some extra flourishes to the rest of your outfit. I’ve chosen a leopard print coat, which I think is a great way of jazzing up a basic outfit. It also matches the brown and white soles of the loafers really well!
I think loafers are best worn without socks. Teamed with skinny jeans in 7/8 length and some fashionable accessories, they make for a chic preppy look that’ll never go out of fashion.
As an alternative, you can also wear loafers with high-waisted skinny jeans, a white blouse and a felt hat – your retro look is complete! Now for that leisurely stroll around town!
