Young designers on the HÖGL set
Handmade outfits at the editorial photo shoot
For three students from the Hetzendorf Fashion School, it was a dream come true: seeing their own designs at an international photo shoot.
This year’s shoot for the forthcoming Högl Autumn/Winter 2019 collection campaign took place in the middle of April, at Schloss Hof, situated east of Vienna, with its imposing rooms and extensive baroque gardens. Originally built as Prince Eugene's country estate, in many ways it is similar to the famous Schloss Belvedere, its counterpart in the city of Vienna. The Austrian model Ilvie Wittek posed as the face of the new campaign, while Andreas Ortner, the globally successful fashion photographer and also a native Austrian, was behind the camera.
At the shoot for the editorial, the outfits were just as much a focal point as the new Högl designs. Young designers from the Hetzendorf Fashion School, Wirat Tengchiang, Lena Ruan and Yolanda Quan, were winners of a creative competition for the school’s students, earning the chance to turn their elaborate designs into reality. They produced five looks around the theme of 'Modern Muses', developed from decoratively printed fabrics and unique material combinations, reminiscent of Gustav Klimt’s paintings and the Art Nouveau style. At the photo shoot in the Sala Terrena, the impressive hall that forms a link between the palace’s architecture and the garden’s natural scenery, the students were able to gain some experience of being styling assistants.
Högl’s head of marketing Tanja Thurner and stylist Birgit Schlotterbeck were clearly very pleased with the outcome of the editorial photoshoot: "We were thrilled with the results of the design competition and the outfits that were created in such a short time. The students have put a lot of time and energy into this project and they have worked out their designs with great attention to detail - it was instantly noticeable. They are also getting first impressions and valuable experience of an international fashion shoot through this collaboration."
The new Högl collection and campaign will be launched in July 2019.
