Newly wed Julietta_mademoiselle knows that it isn’t just the material things that can fill your heart with love.
It’s that time of year once again – Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying that this occasion is becoming increasingly commercialised. In my opinion, every day was made for spending a special moment with the one(s) you love. It’s only a matter of finding the time.
With him by my side This year’s Valentine’s Day is in some ways unique for us, since it will be our first as a married couple. Although I have to admit that it was also pretty special last year, since it was shortly after our engagement.
And actually, I have to correct myself here too, because with HIM by my side, not only is Valentine’s day pretty special, but EVERY day is – all 365 of them. I think it’s extremely important to show your partner that you care for them, not only on Valentine’s Day, but every single day!
Spending time together is the greatest gift I’m not a fan of extravagant presents on Valentine’s Day. I much prefer a nice evening with my beloved, because relaxed evenings as a couple are rare, given how hectic both our schedules are. In the last few years, we would either eat out, or my husband, who loves cooking (and is also a really great cook), would rustle up something magical at home.
Time spent together – I think this is the loveliest thing a partner can give you. Nothing material can match these precious moments. That’s why we treat Christmas and birthdays in the same way: instead of material gifts, we have a joint travel account, which we contribute to on festive occasions. We then use the savings whenever we go on holiday together.
“Time spent together – I think this is the loveliest thing a partner can give you. Nothing material can match these precious moments.”
There’s another reason why this Valentine’s Day is extra special. Only a few days before, on 11th February, I’ll be celebrating my 30th birthday! So we’ll treat ourselves on the 14th and book a table at a nice restaurant.
My Valentine’s Day look with these ALENA heels by Högl For those who still need outfit inspiration for their Valentine’s date: HERE WE GO!
Nougat’s natural brown tone and off-white are two central colours of this summer’s nature trend. Even if there’s still a while to go before summer, I’ve found myself being inspired by it already in my choice of outfit. Högl has also been drawn to natural shades when designing the current Spring/Summer collection. The result is this elegant square toe loafer with a flared block heel: a new style that offers a 2020 interpretation of 1970s charm. It will upgrade any outfit and, besides, it will catch anyone’s eye all on its own.
